Areas of Expertise

Anxiety/Depression

Anxiety and depression are two of the most common mental health conditions, often co-occurring and significantly impacting an individual's daily functioning, relationships, and quality of life. Anxiety and depression-focused treatment utilizes a multifaceted approach to provide compassionate, evidence-based care. This can involve cognitive-behavioral therapy to address negative thought patterns, mindfulness and relaxation techniques to manage physiological symptoms, and behavioral activation to re-engage with meaningful activities. Clinicians also incorporate psychoeducation to help clients understand the neurobiological underpinnings of their experiences, as well as the role of factors like genetics, trauma, and life stressors. Medication management is sometimes incorporated as well, with providers working closely with clients to find the right pharmacological interventions to complement the therapeutic process. Throughout treatment, the emphasis is on building coping strategies, enhancing emotional regulation, improving self-compassion, and restoring a sense of hope and agency. By tailoring interventions to the unique needs and strengths of each individual, anxiety and depression-focused care empowers clients to navigate these challenges and reclaim their lives with greater resilience and fulfillment.

Boundary/Relationship Issues

Relationship-focused mental health treatment recognizes the profound impact that our interpersonal connections have on our overall wellbeing and functioning. This specialized approach centers the dynamics, communication patterns, and emotional landscapes of the client's most significant relationships - whether that involves romantic partners, family members, close friends, or other important figures. Relationship-focused therapists utilize modalities like emotionally-focused therapy, Internal Family Systems, and other systematic approaches to help clients build self-awareness, empathy, conflict resolution skills, and intimacy. By exploring unmet attachment needs, attachment styles, and relational trauma, clients are empowered to understand the root causes behind recurring relational challenges and unhealthy patterns. This treatment model also emphasizes the importance of the therapeutic relationship itself, modeling healthy, collaborative dynamics that clients can then apply to their other important bonds. Ultimately, relationship-focused care supports clients in developing the skills, insights, and personal growth necessary to create and maintain fulfilling, sustainable connections - leading to enhanced overall mental health and life satisfaction.

Trauma

Trauma-focused mental health care recognizes the profound and lasting impacts that exposure to overwhelming, life-threatening, or emotionally-devastating events can have on an individual's psychological, emotional, and physical wellbeing. This specialized approach utilizes evidence-based therapies like prolonged exposure, EMDR, and trauma-informed cognitive processing to help clients safely confront, process, and integrate their traumatic experiences. Trauma-focused treatment also emphasizes building coping skills, regulating overwhelming emotions, and restoring a sense of safety, control, and connection. Clinicians in this field are highly attuned to the ways trauma can manifest across the mind-body spectrum, from hypervigilance and intrusive thoughts to somatic symptoms and dissociation. By providing a compassionate, collaborative, and culturally-responsive space, trauma-focused care empowers clients to move from merely surviving to actively thriving in the aftermath of trauma. Through this holistic, client-centered model, individuals are able to reclaim their narrative, develop resilience, and cultivate post-traumatic growth - ultimately reclaiming their lives on their own terms.

Perinatal Mental Health

Perinatal mental health treatment is a specialized approach that addresses the unique psychological needs of individuals during the prenatal, pregnancy, and postpartum periods. This model recognizes the significant hormonal, physical, and lifestyle changes that occur during the perinatal phase, and how these factors can impact one's emotional wellbeing. Perinatal mental health professionals utilize evidence-based therapies like cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, and support groups to help expectant and new parents manage conditions like prenatal/postpartum depression, anxiety, trauma, and intrusive thoughts. Additionally, perinatal treatment often incorporates holistic practices like mindfulness, nutrition counseling, and sleep hygiene to promote overall wellness. By providing compassionate, judgment-free care tailored to the perinatal experience, this approach empowers individuals to navigate the joys and challenges of this transformative life stage with greater self-awareness, coping skills, and social support. Ultimately, perinatal-focused mental health treatment aims to ensure the emotional health and resilience of parents, which positively impacts the whole family.

Fertility

Fertility challenges can have a profound emotional impact, making specialized mental health support critical for individuals and couples navigating this complex experience. Fertility-focused treatment recognizes the unique stressors associated with infertility, assisted reproductive technologies, pregnancy loss, and other fertility-related experiences. Therapists in this field utilize evidence-based modalities like cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and emotional-focused couples therapy to help clients manage anxiety, depression, grief, relationship strain, and feelings of loss of control. Additionally, fertility counseling incorporates psychoeducation about the physiological and psychological aspects of fertility, as well as techniques for stress management, self-compassion, and building a support network. By offering a non-judgmental, shame-free space to process their emotions, fertility-focused mental health professionals empower clients to cultivate resilience, find meaning, and make informed decisions about their fertility journey - whether that involves medical treatment, adoption, surrogacy, or childlessness. Ultimately, this holistic approach ensures that the emotional needs of those facing fertility challenges are met with the same care and attention as the medical aspects of their experience.

Neurodivergent

Individuals with neurological differences such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and other neurodivergent profiles often require specialized mental health support that recognizes and accommodates their unique cognitive and sensory processing needs. Rather than defaulting to one-size-fits-all approaches, neurodivergent-focused treatment emphasizes personalized interventions, multidisciplinary care, and cultivating an environment of acceptance and self-understanding. This can involve strategies like sensory integration therapy, executive function coaching, social skills development, and harnessing special interests and strengths. By centering the client's neurodiversity as a core part of their identity rather than a deficiency to be "fixed", this model empowers neurodivergent individuals to manage challenges, build resilience, and thrive on their own terms. Ultimately, neurodivergent-affirming mental healthcare recognizes that there is no single "normal" way of thinking or being, and celebrates the rich diversity of human neurological expression.
